The phone becomes a microphone. The control room slips the whole table one intention — “you’re handing in your notice”, “you’re ordering a pizza” — and you play it over a scene that says something else entirely. That collision is the joke, and it works with no comic talent at all. What wins is no longer what is written: it is what is performed.
